Attention Hipsters! Also, attention everyone else. Wilf and Ada’s is pretty good. At least, the brunch is. I’ve only eaten once there so far. Normally brunch is tough to write about, because how many times can you compare bacon and eggs. But this “almost Glebe” destination is worth writing about.
For about 13 dollars you can get a plate of toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, home fries, and a side of french toast. A piece of toast is missing from the photo below because I ate it:
The plate may not look appetizing, especially the bacon and the baked beans. But never judge a book by its cover. Judge it by how it tastes in your mouth. The bacon had a slightly unique flavour but it was delicious and it meshed well with the soft and sweet pile of beans. The home fries, or “homies” as they call them, were the best thing about the dish – well seasoned, evenly cooked. And the side of french toast was very well done. The chunks of cooked apple on top were amazing and made the french toast taste like homemade apple pie. I don’t know how the apple was cooked but it was good. My only criticism: they didn’t butter the toast. But that’s not the end of the world.
If you like a solid brunch, and you like the ghostbusters theme to serenade you while you eat – whether you’re a hipster or not – you’re likely to enjoy the brunch here. And if you’re a penny pincher, you’ll appreciate the value you get for your money. I look forward to going back for lunch!
