BURGERS

1. The hintonburger at Hintonburger in Ottawa – Not just the best burger in Ottawa, but also my all time favourite burger. Nothing tops this patty’s flavour. Check out my review here.

2. The Hawaiian style burger at Teddy’s Bigger Burgers in Waikiki – As much as I love the hintonburger, this is a very close second. Topped with rings of pineapple, you may be skeptical at first, but it is a very sweet success. If you’re in the Waikiki area, or near any of their other locations, you need to try this place.

3. Applebee’s quesadilla burger – Before you discount me for favouriting a big box franchise, you should try this hamburger. Not all best burger titles are reserved for hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop dives. Place a juicy patty between two soft shell tortillas and classic quesadilla condiments and you have yourself… my number 3 all time favourite burger.

PIZZA

  1. Pizza Place in Swan River and Brandon, Manitoba – It may not be fair that my favourite pizza of all time is from my home province, but there will never be a better pizza than this. Everything from the sauce to the cheese to the crust is unique and the pepperoni is the perfect thickness. If ever you’re cruising down the TransCanada Highway, you can slip into Brandon and give this place a go.
  2. Pizza tica at Pizzamail.it in Puerto Jimenez, Costa Rica – This pick may seem like it came out of left field, but it actually came out of Central America. If you are ever in Costa Rica along the Pacific coast, you need to go to Pizzamail.it. Just… you gotta try it.
  3. Vern’s Pizza, locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba – Vern’s is the monster of all pizzas. The sauce is great, but these pizzas are loaded up so thick it’s a meatatarian’s dream. The large pizzas have giant square centre pieces with no crust that are the thickness of lasagna. Seriously. One slice of a large will fill some of you up.
  4. Slice & Co. in Ottawa – This is my top spot for Ottawa. My personal fav is the Windy City, a deep dish pizza that is actually quite thin but is very tasty. And the crust is fresh and magnificent with some of the toppings rolled up inside it. And they serve Somersby here!
